Frequently Asked Questions
What is RGB Light Reactive Art?
RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue, which are the primary colors of the light spectrum. RGB reactive art takes advantage of the science behind the way light affects the colors we see, and uses carefully arranged color combinations to make entirely new patterns or images appear when the light changes colors.
The colors Red, Green, and Blue will show the most distinct results, but always try different color combinations, fades, and sequences to find your own favorite experience!
What Type of Light Do I Need?
Almost ANY color-changing light will work with my artwork! I use anything ranging from color-cycling nightlights to professional DJ lights to show my work. Some important things to keep in mind:
- The dimmer your color-changing light is, the darker the environment should be and the closer the artwork should be to the light source.
Remote Control vs. App Control: Some lights will come with a remote, some will be controlled by an app on your phone, and some will have both options.
- App controlled lights often provide more lighting options and some even allow for complex custom light sequences.
- Remote controlled lights are convenient because they are ready to go right out of the box, and don’t require a phone connection to operate. There are very simple remote controlled sets with just a few options, and more complex ones with music sync modes and basic custom programming. NOTE: It is not uncommon for the buttons of a remote to be mislabeled, especially with inexpensive lights. For example, a button labeled “Flash” may actually create a fading effect and vice versa.
